Healthcare Technology Conference 2018
“The aim of the teams across NHS England and NHS Digital are to provide digital services, alongside and integrated with traditional services, so people can take control of their own health and we can increase access” - Juliet Bauer, chief digital officer of NHS England
Health and social care services are facing rising expectations and escalating demand from an aging population. Service transformation is taking place throughout the NHS however the healthcare sector has fallen behind when it comes to exploiting new technology. Digital technologies and the better use of data and information have a critical role to play in meeting these challenges, improving services and transforming the way patients manage their own health and care. New technologies such as the artificial intelligence system developed at the John Radcliffe Hospital, diagnoses heart scans much more accurately and could save the NHS more than £300 million a year.
The National Information Board’s Personalised Health and Care 2020 strategy is the national framework which focuses on using data and technology to transform outcomes for patients and citizens whilst ensuring quality and reducing the cost of health and care services. According to NHS Digital, 680,000 patients view their GP records online a month. This offers the chance to improve health outcomes, boost efficiency and give patients more of a say in their own care.
The fourth annual Healthcare Technology Conference will explore the latest innovations being adopted by NHS organisations across the country and give delegates the tools they need to transform their organisation’s approach to technology.
