Devolved Healthcare Conference: Delivering local solutions
In April 2016, Greater Manchester became the first area in England to gain devolved powers over health and social care when it took charge of its £6 billion NHS budget. But the city region may not be alone for long after the Cities and Local Government Devolution Act set out provisions for other areas to take control of healthcare and deliver services to suit the needs of local people.
NHS England has said devolution deals are key to the wider vision of providing “place-based commissioning and joined up care pathways” as set out in the Five Year Forward view and Sustainability and Transformation Plans. Official guidelines stress the need for areas to have clarity of vision, local support and strong leadership in order for devolution to be successful.
Join us for the Devolved Healthcare Conference where experts from across the health and social care sectors and local government will discuss the challenges and opportunities posed by a decentralised NHS.
