Defence Technology Conference: Innovations in security
“Britain’s defence industry plays a key role delivering an economy that works for everyone. Across the UK, Britain’s defence companies provide highly skilled, well-paid jobs with world class manufacturing exports.” – Harriett Baldwin, Minister for Defence Procurement
The UK defence industry is the second largest in the world, turning over £24 billion a year, employing 142,000 people and training 4,300 apprentices. With average annual exports of over £7.5 billion, the defence sector has a vital role to play in the Government’s industrial strategy. In December 2016, the Government launched the £800 million Defence Innovation Fund designed to encourage academics and manufacturers to show “imagination, ingenuity and entrepreneurship” in the research and development of new military technology. As well as helping the armed forces, innovations in defence can have wider applications in manufacturing, healthcare and digital technology.
Join is for the Defence Technology Conference where industry experts will discuss the latest Government policy and how the sector can contribute more to the UK economy. Understand how a more creative culture could help the defence sector to innovate, how different organisations can take advantage of a rising defence budget and how the UK can continue to be a global leader in defence exports.
