Counter Terrorism Conference 2018
''By working together, with the police, security and intelligence agencies, the private and public sectors, civil society, international partners, and of course the public, we will make sure that terrorists cannot and will not change our way of life''- Sajid Javid, home secretary, foreword to the launch of the revised CONTEST strategy, June 2018.
The threat posed by terrorism is as serious, varied and destructive as it has ever been. Not only does the UK face a multitude of threats on a daily basis but it has also been the victim of a number of terror attacks in the last year. Just as that threat increases and diversifies so to must our ability to detect, react and stop the plans of terrorists from becoming deadly actions.
One of the core elements of the revised CONTEST strategy is to establish new multi-agency approaches at the local level – initially in London, the West Midlands and Greater Manchester – which will enable MI5 and Counter-Terrorism Policing to share more information with a broader range of partners, including government departments, Devolved Administrations, and local authorities. This, along with the recommendations of Lord Kerslake's report into the Manchester Arena attack, are designed to address the threat, better understand how we cam combat it and how best to respond when attacks take place.
Join us for the Counter Terrorism Conference 2018 to hear the very latest insights from leading experts in the field of national security. Learn how the intelligence services are preparing for potential attacks on the UK, the implications of new Government legislation on combating terrorism and how the third sector can help prevent radicalisation.
