Teaching and Learning Intern (Adult Nursing)

Biography

Suzanne is passionate about providing evidence based, compassionate nursing care. Prior to her current role, she practiced as a nurse in many different areas:

Notably as a:

Staff Nurse Surgical Wards, (Urology/ Vascular Surgery) where she developed her nursing skills and affection for mentoring Student Nurses.

Staff Nurse for 5 years in a busy Medical and Surgical High Dependency Unit, where she cultivated Critical Care skills to nurse critically ill and unstable patients.

Staff Nurse in Community Nursing. It was here Suzanne developed her passion for supporting positive health outcomes in socioeconomically deprived areas and providing person centered, individualized, End of Life care at home.

Community Specialist Practitioner in District Nursing, Suzanne completed and advanced her skills to include prescribing. Suzanne still works bank shifts as a District Nurse to maintain her skills and love of nursing.

Teaching

As a Teaching and Learning Intern who is embarking on the PGCAP teaching qualification, Suzanne is keen to develop her teaching skills and may be found teaching on several subjects.

Primarily her teaching involves:

  • Joint Personal Tutor to BSc Nursing January 2017 UG group
  • Nurse Associate programme
  • MPHAL undergraduate module
  • Dementia Theme e-learning

Suzanne’s research areas of interest include:

  • Palliative and End of Life care
  • Socio-economic deprivation
  • Management of Long Term Conditions
  • Nurse Education

As part of her Academic role, Suzanne will be writing with an aim to publish this year.

Suzanne will be available to supervise Masters projects when she has achieved the necessary qualification in her internship.
