Biography

Dr. Phil Eva is a Lecturer in Counselling and Psychotherapy based in the School of Midwifery, Nursing, Social Work and Social Science at the University of Salford. He has spent twenty years teaching and supporting students' academic and personal development in higher education, and over ten years working as a professionally qualified Counsellor. He has spent much of his working life between Greater Manchester and Scotland. Prior to this Dr. Eva had started out as an academic historian, and changed disciplines because he was much more interested in talking to real people than trawling through dusty archives.

  • Skills tutor, supervisor and personal development group facilitator across the BSc Counselling & Psychotherapy (Professional Practice) and the MSc Counselling & Psychotherapy
  • Module leader: Practice Based Reflection & Research (Level 5)

Research Interests

  • Counselling for long term health conditions
  • Client perspectives on counselling and psychotherapy
  • Personal/emotional challenges of academic study
