Biography
I joined the University of Salford in 2008 as a Lecturer of Midwifery. I have spent 25 years in clinical practice( neonatal intensive care), education, management and research I qualified as a nurse in 1984 in Salford and after working as a Staff nurse A/E on an orthopedic ward. I trained as a midwife. My midwifery experience covers all aspects of the role, however my main areas of interest are neonatal intensive care. I qualified as an Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner in 2002 .My career has led me to fulfil many roles, such as Lecturer Practitioner & Directorate manager.
Teaching
I am a member of the midwifery lecturer’s team, teaching both on the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Within my teaching role I uphold a student centred approach.

Care of the Compromised Baby( CCB) ( Level 6)
I closely work in partnership with medical colleagues, such as facilitating the Newborn Infant Physical Examination( NIPE)National Conferences, in collaboration with the UK Screening Committee( medical, midwifery and nursing delegates attend). Also assessing midwives theoretical and clinical skills in the clinical area( across all sites in Greater Manchester and the Isle of Man).
My academic interests focus on midwifery practice, examination of the newborn, care of the compromised baby, advanced neonatal practice I teach at every level on undergraduate and taught postgraduate midwifery programmes. I supervise postgraduate students.
