Biography
I am a children's nurse by professional background with over twenty years in clinical practice and worked for 8 years as a G grade job-sharing ward sister, an innovative post for the NHS developed specifically by myself and job share partner in 1988. In 1992 I undertook a one- year secondment as a job-sharing teacher before applying and being successful at interview for a lecturers position at the University of Salford in 1996.
Since coming into the University I continued my studies and gained post-registration qualifications and acquired a post-graduate Diploma in Education and MSc. (Education) I became a Senior Lecturer in 2003.
I lived in Paris, for 6 months in my twenties and speak some French and also undertook Russian and Spanish at school. I have been the international link lecturer for Sweden, University of Linkoping since 1996
I became the Student Experience Lead for the School of Nursing & Midwifery in February 2008, and now sit on the School Executive group, more recently I have become interested in exploring and using the findings from the National Student Survey to enhance the student experience of nurse education.
I am a member of the child health team and I am currently undertaking a Ph.D. in a specific area of safeguarding.
Teaching
I teach on undergraduate and post-qualification modules and support students with M level dissertation in the School of Nursing, Midwifery and Social Work.
