Lucy Tomlins is currently a Senior Lecturer at the University of Salford and a Senior Lecturer/Programme Leader amd Practice Trainer  for the MSc Advanced and Clinical Practice Programme at Bolton University. Lucy is a regional Royal of College Board member and a committee on the national AAPE.  

Lucy has a 30-year history working as an Registered General Nurse within medicine, cardiology and management, prior to pursuing a career in education. She initially graduated with a BSc Psychology, followed by a Postgraduate Certificate in Education and subsequently an MSc in Health & Social Care, more recently studying for an Educational Doctorate with a research interest in Emotional Intelligence.


Lucy currently lectures on the NMP programme and on the MSc Advanced Practice in Health & Social Care programme and is the  module lead for the NMP for Advanced Practice module. As well as supervising postgraduate dissertations and teach and facilitate on a variety of postgraduate modules.

Lucy was an external examiner at Suffolk University for 5 years and have been an external representative on 3 validation panels.

Research Interests

My research interests lie within Advanced Practice development, and EI in professional education.
