Biography

My name is Lorraine. I graduated from the University of Salford in 2007 with a BSc in adult nursing. I went to work in the community in East Lancashire and developed a strong community skill set, including palliative care, complex wound management and community nurse prescribing. I undertook the community specialist practitioner qualification (Pg Dip) at UCLAN in 2010/11 and worked as DN sister on both days and nights. I have worked in a community hospital, specialising in palliative care, rehabilitation and leg ulcer management and have been part of a nurse led pressure ulcer steering group in developing a stronger safeguarding reporting system. I moved into a specialist tissue viability nurse role where I helped with education and training around wound care/pressure ulcer care, and was working towards trust documentation compliance with NICE before joining the University of Salford. My interests are dementia and palliative care and I would like to develop these areas through research. I am passionate about the future development of nursing and feel I am a strong advocate for our profession.
