Biography
Prior to taking up a post as a lecturer in Social Work at the University of Salford, I worked as social worker in children and families for over 21 years, in the field of adoption and fostering, disability and residential childcare. I am a registered social worker with the HCPC.
I am still active in practice, in fostering services and also in services to women who experience sexual violence and am committed to community activism on all levels.
Teaching
I teach across a range of undergraduate and post-graduate programmes. Also I am co-module leader for final level placements; my responsibility is all final year children and family placements.
Research Interests
I am currently researching the topic of the intersection of race and gender from a feminist perspective and have a keen interest in women and children as survivors of domestic violence abuse and rape.
