Biography
Elaine started her Nurse training in 1986 at Bolton, initially working on a General and Facio-Maxillo Surgical ward and subsequenlty as a Practice Nurse in a GP surgery before changing to Midwifery and Health Visiting roles.
Since working as a Lecturer Practitioner in 2004 at Bolton University she has worked in numerous education and research roles at various universities including Manchester Metropolitan, Sheffield (ScHARR) and Salford.
Her teaching and research interests include: student art and writing workshops; promoting normal birth; arts in midwifery; child protection; and pilates for pregnancy and postnatal period. She is Programme Leader for the Post RN BSc (Hons) Midwifery course.
She is leader of an award winning Art of Midwifery student project and currently writing up her PhD thesis: Interprofessional Learning in a Community of Child Protection Practice. She has recently been awarded the Vice Chancellor's Early Career Researcher scholarship.
