About this placement
What is organised for students on commencement of placement?
Meet with Mentor on first day of placement and inducted into the team.
What are the arrangements for mentors/assessors?
Five specialist cardiac rehab nurses within the team who are all qualified mentors.
What shift patterns are students allocated for learning?
Monday -Friday start times can be negotiated with your mentor and can be between 8am -9.30am.
We do not work weekends or Bank Holidays.
What patient care situations are available in this placement?
The cardiac rehab team are based in the community. Patients are seen as in patients at Salford Royal Hospital in phase one rehab and are assessed in their own home in phase two of cardiac rehabilitation.
We deliver classes at Salford Royal Hospital and in the community. We also offer home based exercise programmes.
What nursing model is used for planning care?
The nursing model used is an adaptation of Roper, Logan & Tierney, which enables us to incorporate the other specialities within our team and provide a multidisciplinary team approach to our assessment and planning of care.

- Clinical Observations: Manual Blood Pressure & Pulse
- Glucometer - blood sugars

- Specialist Holistic assessment of cardiac patients
