About this placement
What is organised for students on commencement of placement?
Students will have an orientation to the clinic and will be introduced to their mentor and the other team members. Initial interview will be arranged for their first week.
What are the arrangements for mentors/assessors?
Students are assigned to one mentor although associate mentors may also be involved. Whilst students will go out with their mentor on a regular basis, they will spend time with all members of the team.
What shift patterns are students allocated for learning?
Students are requested to attend at 9am on the first morning and future times will be arranged. Students are requested to attend wearing uniform and to phone the clinic the week prior to the placement.
What patient care situations are available in this placement?
Comprehensive holistic assessment of patient's needs within the community setting enabling patients to remain within their own environment. Specific areas which will be explored include: Wound care Leg ulcer care Palliative care Catheter care Pressure area care Diabetes care Health promotion Continence assessment.
