About this placement
What is organised for students on commencement of placement?
Students can join a valuable insight into providing healthcare services to young people within a challenging prison environment. We aim to provide clinical services as part of the NHS.
What are the arrangements for mentors/assessors?
We have a qualified General and Mental Health Team with career development opportunities and clinical leadership.
What shift patterns are students allocated for learning?
7.00 a.m. - 3.00 p.m.
1.00 pm - 9.15 pm
8.45 pm - 7.30 am
All shift patterns can be negotiated to enhance learning needs and students are supernumeracy and fully supported on placement.
What patient care situations are available in this placement?
We have a 24 inpatient facility, several Nurse led Outpatient Clinics, also a Mental Health Day Unit facility.
What nursing model is used for planning care?
Nursing Model is currently under review due to the Age limit of young people and their needs.
What core clinical skills can be learnt?
Treatment of minor illnesses and injuries, Nurse led health Promotion Clinics - (Asthma, smoking sessions, Immunisation Clinics, Challenging Behaviour).
What additional clinical skills can be learnt?
