What is organised for students on commencement of placement?
Student induction booklet and induction week.
What are the arrangements for mentors/assessors?
Each student is allocated a mentor for the duration of the placement and shown on the staff rota.
What shift patterns are students allocated for learning?
Long Days:- 07.30 - 20.30
What patient care situations are available in this placement?
Referals from GP's for individual specialities
Opportunity to attend some surger after they have been in clinic with consultants
What nursing model is used for planning care?
What core clinical skills can be learnt?
Scrubbing for minor ops/vasectomies/cystoscopies/hysteroscopies
Pre-op preparation and recovery time
Steroid injection clinics
Setting up and clearing away various clinics
Preparing medical equipment
Completing IMS patient records
Assist with safety questionnaires
Act as chaperone in all clinical areas
