This placement has one mentor - Louise Morton - Registered Nurse in Mental Health.
What shift patterns are students allocated for learning?
Monday - Friday 09.00am - 17.00pm. Monday - Wednesday - Office based Thursday and Friday - Clinical work.
What patient care situations are available in this placement?
- During this placement the student will have the opportunity to gain valuable clinical skills in working with Military Veterans, their families and partner agencies
- Telephone Triage Initial Mental Health and Risk Assessments
- Evidence based CBT based interventions - Step 2 and Step 3
- Case Management
- Risk Management
- Complex Case Management
- The possibility of having a joint placement with Bury IAPT Team

The teams primary function is to help military veterans access Psychological Interventions such as:-
- CBT (Individual/couples/groups)
- Psychodynamic Psychotherapy Couples and Family Therapy
- Clinical Psychology
- Guided Self Help
- Signposting to partner agencies
- Substance Misuse and Mentally Disordered Offenders Case Worker
The Military Veterans Service provides help for those who have served in the British Armed Forces, those currently in the Territorial Army/Reserves and their families across the North West.
This includes people who live in the region or are registered with a GP in Lancashire, Merseyside, Greater Manchester and Cheshire
Limited parking on site - £5 a day otherwise
