About this placement
What is organised for students on commencement of placement?
Meeting their Mentor on the first day of their placement or if possible should be within 2 days
Offering associate mentors
Orientation booklet, tour of the building, fire procedures etc. and getting to know the players in the team
What are the arrangements for mentors/assessors?
Students to work with their Mentor at least 40% of their shift pattern
Associate mentors available at all times
Mid point / final point to be diarised within the 1st week of placement
Student shift pattern to be placed on off duty
What shift patterns are students allocated for learning?
Night: 21:00hrs – 08:00hrs
Days: 08:00hrs – 21:00hrs
Notes: Student should try and adhere to our 24hr shift patterns, 7 days a week, unless prior arrangements have been made or in exceptional circumstance, unavoidable.
What patient care situations are available in this placement?
Urgent Care Centre
Follow up clinical interventions (home environment /John Elliot Unit / Irwell Unit)
What nursing model is used for planning care?
Practitioners complete clinical risk assessment, formulation and management of risk, utilising the Storm’ principles within Pennine Care Policy Guidelines

Mandatory ‘crisis’ assessment/ risk management documentation
Police street triage knowledge
136 suite information/paperwork to be completed
Assessments on medical wards
Assessments in the A&E department (Bury) / Urgent Care Centre (Rochdale)
Arranging Mental Health Act assessments

Spoke placements available with other MDT
