About this placement
What is organised for students on commencement of placement?
A Welcome Pack is provided to the student and a Mentor is allocated. We would encourage students to contact the placement prior to arrival to find out the name of their Mentor. Orientation to the clinical base is provided on the first day of their placement.
What are the arrangements for mentors/assessors?
Mentors are allocated to students prior to their arrival
What shift patterns are students allocated for learning?
Monday – Friday 08.30-17:00

What core clinical skills can be learnt?
Communication skills. The development of Therapeutic relationships with clients/families. Record keeping. In depth awareness of Child Development/Assessment of Health Needs. Liaison with the Primary Health Care Team. Applying research to practice.

What research and practice development activities are being undertaken?
Students are encouraged to undertake enquiries into a range of Health and Developmental issues for the Pre-school population and to share this learning with future students by adding their work to the placement audit.
