Your place on one of the courses listed below is subject to receipt of satisfactory DBS clearance and health clearance  

Safeguarding Children and Adults

A number of programmes within the School of Nursing, Midwifery, Social Work and Social Sciences include a placement which involves engaging in what is known as a Regulated Activity. This Regulated Activity relating to Adults and/or Children is subject to receipt of satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) clearance.

Your offer of a place on one of these programmes is subject to receipt of satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) clearance. This condition will remain in place irrespective of whether you have registered as a student or commenced your studies. The University of Salford reserves the right to withdraw the offer of a place to anyone who fails to provide a satisfactory DBS check. Moreover, failure to declare a conviction etc. that is subsequently revealed on a DBS check may also affect your offer of a place. When you have accepted a place at the University, prior to your commencement, we will email you instructions on how to apply for DBS clearance through the University’s online system. The online system is provided in conjunction with Atlantic Data Ltd and access to the online system is controlled by a login process, with all information provided through a secure website and all personal data is transmitted using encryption.

As well as obtaining DBS clearance you will be expected to self-declare if you have ever received any convictions, cautions, reprimands or warnings. Any information you declare will be considered by a School Student Vetting Panel. The University currently does not accept DBS Enhanced Certificates from any other registered bodies.However, if you subscribe to the DBS Update Service, and your DBS Certificate is the same level of check required for your programme, we will check your up to date status online with the DBS. 

When you receive your DBS Enhanced Certificate please keep it for future use, you can choose to subscribe to the DBS Update Service, however this is currently not a requirement of the University.If you decide to subscribe to the DBS Update Service you must do so within 19 days from the date of issue of your DBS Certificate. A fee is charged for the Update Service and this is paid directly to the DBS. 

The programmes which require you to apply for a DBS Enhanced check, checked against the Adult/Children's barred lists, are as follows; for the programmes marked with an asterisk, a DBS fee will be charged for your check.
