Chartered Institute of Housing Accreditation

Our BSc (Hons) in Social Policy is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH).

The CIH is the professional body for the housing sector. It has a membership of over 22,000 people who work in both the public and private sectors, in 20 countries on five continents across the world. It is the independent voice for housing and the home of professional standards. The work of the CIH is rooted in three main objectives – learn, improve and influence. A registered charity with a Royal Charter, CIH provides opportunities for learning and improving, and champions housing to influence the direction of policy.

Accreditation means all students studying BSc (Hons) Social Policy are student members of the CIH, with access to benefits including reduced fees at conferences and events and a reduced subscription to Inside Housing magazine. Students who complete a period of housing-related employment of not less than 400 hours before, during or after graduation, along with a professional development element, also offered by the University, will achieve full chartered membership of CIH.
