The first of this year’s professorial inaugural lectures will be delivered by Professor Alan Williams.
Professor Williams has been at the University of Salford since 1995 and is currently Professor of Collaborative Composition within the School of Arts & Media.
The lecture, entitled ‘Out of the Garret – the Composer as Collaborator’, will discuss the historical role of the composer and how social and technological changes have transformed the relationships involved in the creation of music. You’ll hear some music which Professor Williams has taken a part in creating over the last five years, and details of future projects in which the audience has a hand in the creation of the work.
This is a free event as part of our public series of lectures, which are open to all. Please register your attendance via our website, or alternatively reserve a place by contacting the Events team on 0161 295 5275 or email@example.com.
