North West Regional Construction Award 2012
The North West construction sector celebrated the achievements of the region’s best and most innovative projects and organisations at last night’s annual awards ceremony, which was held at The Palace Hotel, Manchester.

Hosted by the Centre for Construction Innovation (CCI), the Constructing Excellence centre for the North West, and part of the School of the Built Environment at the University of Salford, 16 awards were presented to winners, selected from over 150 nominations.

Notable winners included Manchester City Council, which picked up a hat-trick of awards, Ordsall Hall Museum, which won the Project of the Year along with the Heritage Award, and Brockholes Visitor Centre, which was awarded a special Judges’ Award, as well as the Sustainability Award.

This year, the ‘Young Achiever’ Award was introduced which looked to recognise a young achiever within the industry with less than five years’ experience. CCI wanted showcase young talent in North West construction. Finalists all demonstrated a positive impact against the current Generation for Change priority areas of people, sustainability and innovation.

Commenting on the awards, Roy Stewart, Operations Director at CCI, said: “The sector is still experiencing tough times economically, but, through our work with industry and through the evidence on display, it is gratifying to see so many clients, consultants, contractors and their supply chains doing so much great work.

“The Awards show just how our industry is investing in training, investing in people and adding value to everything they do. In the North West we have a construction industry that is helping its clients deliver value for money and buildings and infrastructure that are fit for purpose; both our industry and our clients are showing leadership through these tough times and innovation in all that it is done.”
