Launch of Student Midwifery Society

Wednesday 26 June 2013 3.00pm - Wednesday 26 June 2013 8.00pm
Venue: GL21 @ Mary Seacole Building
Event Type: Health

Salford's student midwives have created a Midwifery Society to share their experiences and promote positive midwifery skills.

They are hoping to reach out to the midwifery and birth communities to source learning that will support students through their journey to becoming skilled midwives and passionate advocates of the women and their families they serve.

There will be presentations by students and two film showings: Birth Story: Ina May Gaskin and the Farm Midwives.

First event is at 3.00pm and will include a discussion on Normal Birth Chaired by Sarah Davies and a panel of midwifery and birth leaders including the Royal College of Midwives' Director for England, Jacque Gerrard.

They will then be holding a second event with a film at 7.00pm to enable more people to take part in the celebrations.

Ticket prices: £3 for Salford students and £8 for others. You can purchase with a debit or credit card: call 0161 351 5436 or email
