Future Broadcast Technology Training Day

The EU Framework 7 project FascinatE is pleased to announce a Future Broadcast Technology Training Day on Tuesday 5 March 2013 which is open to all students from across the North West of England.

The day will be of great interest to students studying broadcast, audio, video and network/IT related subjects.

The event will consist of a series of masterclasses and demonstrations of technologies developed as part of the FascinatE project over the last three years. These will include:

  • Panoramic ultra-high definition footage from an omni-directional camera
  • Higher order ambisonics automated audio mixing and reproduction
  • Audio object extraction for object-based audio systems
  • Gesture interaction for user-controlled audiovisual navigation
  • flexible network and device-based video rendering
  • Virtual director system for automated view framing and cutting decisions
  • Second screen and mobile streaming
  • Admission is free to students.

    FascinatE is an EU-funded project involving a group of partners from technology companies, research bodies and higher education institutions across Europe. FascinatE stands for Format-Agnostic Script-based Interactive Experience, and the partnership is looking at broadcasting live events to give the viewer a more interactive experience no matter what device they are using to view the broadcast.
