Find out how to become an entrepreneur at university talks

Wednesday 14 November 2012
Nikki Hesford
The University of Salford is supporting Global Entrepreneurship Week 2012 (12-18 November) by helping budding entrepreneurs get their business ideas off the ground with a series of workshops and talks.

Global Entrepreneurship Week aims to help people who are considering starting a business by connecting them to practical support and people who have done it already. The Salford events are all open to the public.

One of the highlights is a talk by Nikki Hesford who appeared on BBC1’s Dragons' Den this year. Nikki will share her story of determination and the importance of never giving up if you want to achieve your dreams. In addition to her Dragons' Den experience, she will talk about becoming the award-winning owner and founder of the Miss Fit UK group of brands for big-busted women.

Other businesses giving talks about starting a new business and overcoming challenges are student website, UNIsorted, Kirstie McNulty Photography, Plan Event Management and Spark Studio which provides living and working accommodation in the same building.

Enterprise Champion Louise Kenworthy, who works on the European Regional Development Fund North West Higher Education Enterprise Champions Project, said: “Global Entrepreneurship Week is an exciting week full of fantastic events to help our students and graduates become more enterprising, pursue their dreams and build the businesses of tomorrow.”

The full programme of business start-up and social enterprise workshops can be viewed at www.careers.salford.ac.uk/page/enterpriseevents. Places are open to everyone and can be booked online by emailing futures@salford.ac.uk or calling 0161 295 3807.
