Apprentice star to inspire Salford students

Duane Bryan, who appeared on BBC One’s The Apprentice this year, will be keynote speaker at the University of Salford's enterprise induction on Thursday, 27 September, which will showcase the enterprise initiatives available to students, staff and graduates.

Duane is a local entrepreneur who graduated from the University of Salford in 2008 with a BSc in Business and Management StudiesThe Apprentice enabled him to test his ability, create opportunities and help him decide how to use his skills in the next part of his life.

He is currently working on a variety of business ideas and managing a city centre nightclub, Entourage.  Duane has been Director of Elite Personal Management - a fitness and health business, and Bryan and Bell Ltd – a drinks distribution company.

Since appearing on the programme, he has influenced and inspired people of all ages and backgrounds, encouraging them to take their future in their own hands.

Duane said: “I am a winner and a fighter, in order to be the best you’ve got to beat the best.” 

The Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) team will also be at the event encouraging students to find out more about the exciting social projects they can work on. SIFE Salford students have a drive and passion to succeed while making a difference in the local community.

The University's Enterprise Champion, Louise Kenworthy, who works on the European Regional Development Fund North West Higher Education Enterprise Champions Project, said: "Duane has had an interesting entrepreneurial journey and it’s a pleasure to hear about the success of one of our graduates.

“With his passion and enthusiasm I am sure he will inspire our students and graduates to succeed in business, take risks and fulfil their dreams.”

The induction will take place in Careers & Employability on the ground floor of University House. Registration and a wine reception sponsored by The Co-operative will start at 4.30pm with talks taking place between 5.00 and 7.00pm.
