University appoints new director of estates
The University of Salford has appointed Stephen Talboys as Director of Estates to lead its property services and campus redevelopment projects.
Stephen is currently co-owner of property service business, Morphe, which provides management consultancy to the public, private and voluntary sectors.
He has more than 15 years’ experience across a diverse range of strategic roles including asset management, overall estates management covering large-scale capital and operation budgets, master planning, securing public and private sector funding and co-investing.
Prior to setting up Morphe in 2011, Stephen worked as Director of Regeneration for Bradford’s Urban Regeneration Company, with overall responsibility for the £2 billion master planning and development plan for the regeneration of the city centre and delivery of associated key projects.
Former positions also include Project Director for Tees Valley Regeneration, delivering two high-level regeneration projects as part of a multi-agency team, and general management roles for British Waterways, where he worked for seven years.
During his time at British Waterways, Stephen spearheaded a major transformation programme to improve performance, customer service, systems and culture through a national re-organisation of the group.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Martin Hall said: “It's a pleasure to welcome Stephen to the University. He is joining us at an exciting time, during which we will see continuing and significant improvements to our campus, and to the facilities we have for our students and colleagues.”
Stephen said: “Having spent a few exploratory days at Salford over the last few weeks, I am really looking forward to joining and taking on the role to oversee our plans to improve the look, feel and function of the campus and the part it plays in the life of the University and the city.”
He will join the University on 29 April 2013.
