Secretary of State for Health to lead Salford event
The Rt Hon Andy Burnham, Secretary of State for Health, will be at the University of Salford on Friday, 12 February to deliver a keynote speech at a health and social care seminar.
The health secretary will be at the seminar to give an inspirational talk to students and professionals about the importance of leadership within the health and social care sectors, drawing on his own career and experiences.
The Greater Manchester MP for Leigh was elected in 2001 and has enjoyed a rapid rise from the back bench to the cabinet. He has been health secretary since June 2009 and prior to that he was the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport.
Dean of the Faculty of Health & Social Care, Professor Cynthia Pine said: "Leadership is a crucial topic in health and social care and to have the health secretary at this event is a tremendous coup for Salford."
