The Technical Services Team at MediaCityUK support teaching and learning, broadcast production, project delivery and University and commerical events within our specialist spaces: TV & Radio Studios, Digital Performance Lab (DPL), TV News Studio, Audio Post Production, Dubbing Theatre, Egg Reception and Egg Suite. Our Creative Technical Demonstrators (CTDs) are multi-disciplinary and have specialist skills across a range of technology. In conjunction with the academic community and industry we support research and investment in new technology to enrich the student experience and enable high quality teaching and learning.

Ameera is responsible for leading and managing a diverse team of experienced technical specialists, alongside a portfolio of creative spaces.Her team directly support both students and staff, and also delivers a range of activities working with commercial clients, from delivering Media Training and TV Studio productions, to one-off events which take place within any of our spaces.We actively encourage the use of students within all events to ensure we enrich the student experience here at MediaCity. Ameera ensures that the facilities are updated with the latest technology and equipment to enable high quality teaching and learning.

Ann Howley (top) & Gillian Netherton provide full support for the Head of Technical Services and associated team members, including finance, diary management and Events support.Both are SAP users and use CMIS and Kinetics to book ad-hoc Events.
Jan manages and delivers multiple projects at Media City, which cut across all our specialist spaces. She leads the Creative Content and Events Team, which focuses on the Digital Performance Laboratory (DPL), the Entrance Area including the EGG Suite, and all associated hardware and software including the management of our digital signage and creation of content.

Tamsin is an Events Officer for the University at the MediaCityUK campus. If you are looking to run an event in the building, she is the first point of contact. Tamsin will book the space for you, organise catering and assist with event logistics.

Damon is responsible for the operation of the EGG whilst contributing to its ongoing development from a technological and creative viewpoint. His background is in real time 3D creation both as asset creation and also interactive environments. Also advises on maintenance and health & safety.

Rik is responsible for both Radio Studios and also trains students on the use of the radio mixing desk and associated recording/play-out software both in timetabled demonstration classes and skills workshops.Also runs skills workshops in audio editing using Adobe Audition software. Rik also looks after some background functionality of the SiSo online booking system.

Bernie provides support for audio production and audio post production including software, hardware and recording techniques for foley, ADR and location sound recording. Bernie is a certified AVID Pro Tools instructor and specialises in sound recording, mixing and live sound. He also advises on future technological developments and maintenance.

Louis provides support for the delivery of technical services to all our customers including students, academics and external clients within the specialist subject area. Louis is a certified Avid Media Composer user and has extensive knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro, amongst other Adobe products.

Alasdair provides support to students who use the makerspace, this includes assisting with the design and fabrication of physical or digital prototypes utilising CAD, 3D print and other CAM or traditional solutions. Alasdair also assists in a wider variety of mixed digital media delivering support including Adobe After Effects, Premiere, Autodesk Maya, Arduino and developing interactive installations.

Janan provides support for the delivery of the BA in Film Production and is skilled in pre-production, production and post-production processes and techniques; teaching a wide variety of production techniques and equipment as well as post-production techniques and software.

Guy leads the facilities equipment store and Media Asset Management teams. He maintains and develops all TV and radio studios, specialist spaces and asset management systems. His background is in broadcast engineering and specialist systems installations.
