Short Loan Collection
The Short Loan Collection (SLC) is a collection of our most heavily used books and journal articles, located in the Clifford Whitworth library. Their short loan periods enable more people to access these core text books.
Where is it located?
It's located on the First Floor of the Clifford Whitworth library. You will be able to browse the shelves, or find items on SOLAR, and then use the Self Service machine to issue items to your library account.
How long can I borrow a SLC item for?
There are two categories of loan:
- 4 hour loans
- 24 hour loans
Check your receipt for the exact due date and time.
It is essential that you return items on time as higher rates of fines are imposed for this high-demand collection.
See Fines & charges for more information.
Is there a Self Service machine nearby?
Yes, you must use the Self Service machine within the SLC area to issue the item/s to your library account.
The Self Service machine in the SLC is quicker and easier to use. Rather than scanning the barcode of each book, you only need to place books in a pile on the flat plate. Just follow the on-screen instructions.
