Computer facilities
33 computers, a scanner and 2 printers are available for use in the Open Access Area. When not in use for teaching purposes rooms 901 (24 computers) and 902 (28 computers) are available for self-access. Students wishing to use the computers in 901 and 902 when a class is in progress must ask permission from the lecturer at the start of the lesson. Please see Computer Room Policy. All computers are equipped for multimedia use with CD/DVD writers and two USB ports for USB pen drives on the front.
To log on to the computers you need a user name and password from ITS. The printers operate through the same credit system as The Library printers and the nearest printer credit machine is in the Clifford Whitworth library. The computers in the LRC are for reading University e-mail or language learning purposes only.

Andrew Riddell Conference Interpreting Suite
The Andrew Riddell Conference Interpreting Suite has space for 15 delegates and for interpreters in up to 5 languages accommodated in 5 booths built to the standards of the International Association of Conference Interpreters. The suite can also be used as a 10 position language lab for training purposes.

Viewing area
There are 20 individual televisions with 18 video cassette recorders and 2 DVD players. 7 foreign satellite channels and 5 British terrestrial channels are available at any one time. Recordings of English, French, German, Italian and Spanish news programmes are made every evening and are shelved in the Reading Area.

Audio area
12 audio cassette booths are available for self-access use. When all booths are in use, the booths of the CIS (906) can be used for self-access listening.

Reading area
The Reading Area seats 29 students.

Workroom
Room 903 (capacity 8 each) can be booked at the LRC Reception by staff or students for meetings, workshops, project work, video viewing, etc.

Photocopier
The nearest photocopier is in the Clifford Whitworth Library.

Bookings and prices
All facilities and a range of additional equipment (e.g. overhead projectors, data projectors, laptops, video cameras) can be booked free of charge by all registered users of the LRC.
Rooms can be booked at the LRC Reception, ICT and AV equipment can be booked with the technicians who are located in room 909. (A minimum of 24 hours notice is required for LRC equipment bookings).
