Password information for off campus learners

You will need access to a range of password information to fully access all the services and resources available to you as an off campus learner at the University of Salford.

Network username and password

On registering, your personal network username and password will be emailed to you.

Email address and password

You will need your student email address and a separate email password to log into your student email account.

Athens details are required to access electronic resources, such as ebooks and databases, on and off campus.

Resource Specified Passwords

While the majority of subscribed electronic resources, such as databases, e-journals and e-books are Athens compatible, there are certain titles that required a separate username and/or password for off-campus access.

  • Within the Databases section of SOLAR, click on Show Info next to the required title to display full information on the database.
  • Follow the link to Username and Password required to access the resource specific login details.

Off-Campus Proxy

Certain electronic resources have restricted access and may not be viewed outside the University’s network. The web proxy facility allows you to set up your home computer to allow access to these resources, as long as you have a valid University network username and password.

This will also allow you to access certain University web pages (such as online exam papers) which may otherwise be limited to on-campus only.
