Subject Guides

The Subject Guide for Law [pdf] provides details of a wealth of materials to help you with your studies.

OSCOLA
Oxford University's OSCOLA Guide - This is the official guide to the standard referencing style that you should use to cite work in your law assignments.   There is a Quick Reference Guide which provides an example of how to reference each different type of material.

There is also a wealth of information on the internet to help you to understand how you should use OSCOLA such as:
Cardiff University’s online tutorials - This provides a range of tools to explain OSCOLA and to test your understanding of the main principles.
Huddersfield University's podcasts - This series of six podcasts has been put together by a law lecturer at the University, each lasting about six minutes. They allow you to see in practice how to use OSCOLA and help you to visualise how you should cite a range of materials.
Bournemouth University's Presentations - This series of Powerpoint presentations give a step by step way of building up a citation using examples from cases, statutes and articles.
