What's available
With Community Access at the University of Salford you gain access to a wide range of resources, from Health to Engineering, Architecture to Fashion, Business to the Environment, if you are looking to research a specific subject or improve your studies we may have something for you.
Books, journals and DVDs
Members of the scheme can borrow up to four items at a time for free. All you need is your membership card and our self service machines.
Please remember, there are fines and charges for overdue items and not all items are available for borrowing by non-University members. However, items that cannot be borrowed can still be used while you are in the library. This includes reference access to a wide range of journals and magazines. We have copiers available if you wish to copy articles to take home (within copyright regulations).
Electronic resources
As well as books, journals and DVDs you can also access a number of electronic resources using our dedicated Public Access machines. There is a machine at each site available during Enquiry Desk staffed hours.

Study space
Members are welcome to use our libraries for silent study or quiet group work. Please be aware of our library zones. We also have individual rooms that can be booked by groups. Community Access members can book these at the Enquiry Desk in the libraries during vacation.
Where to find help
A lot of help is available in our libraries during staffed hours, but please remember that sometimes we are self service only.
- Each library has a Reception Desk at the gate with staff that can help with membership queries.
- In addition, you will find an Enquiry Desk close to the library entrance. Desk staff can help you make the best use of our library services, providing guidance in all the resources we offer.
- Roving Support Staff are also ready to help you in and around the library. Look out for them in their black library branded shirts.
We provide online guides and short videos providing information on general library services. However some of our services are only available to our current staff and students.
