Regulations

Community Access at the University of Salford is a reciprocal agreement with Salford Public Libraries which permits their local members, or anyone who lives, works or studies in Salford, to gain access to the library spaces and resources of the University of Salford for the use of educational, lifelong learning or personal development. Commercial use of library facilities is prohibited.


Membership card

You must complete an application form and provide proof of address to obtain a Community Access membership card. The information will be used to create a borrower's account within the library management system. The membership card will enable you to;

  • enter University library facilities
  • borrow library items.

Please show your membership card to library staff when requested. Membership is not transferable. It is your responsibility to notify the University of Salford library staff of any change of address or other contact details.


Behaviour

All members of the library are expected to be courteous to our staff and other library users.

Your behaviour within the library should not disturb other library users, degrade the learning environment or damage library property.

Please observe guidance and signage in the library relating to noise, eating, drinking, silent areas and using mobile phones.

Please be aware of and comply with the Library & Learning spaces Policy and the Acceptable Use Policy.

Please note that you will be asked to leave the library if your behaviour is unsuitable.


Borrowing

You are responsible for all items borrowed on your library account until they are returned and discharged. You will be charged for overdue, lost or damaged items.

Borrowing is not possible with outstanding fines on your library record.


Copyright

Photocopiers are available in all libraries. Please be aware that copyright laws apply to all library and electronic resources. Copyright regulations can be found next to the Library copiers.


Children in library

Any children under 16 must be accompanied and supervised at all times by a responsible and capable adult. The University of Salford Library cannot be held responsible for any injury sustained while on its premises.


Security

Take care of your valuables while on Library premises and do not leave your property unattended. The Library cannot be held responsible for any loss or theft of personal property.


Computers

Library electronic catalogues and Public Access PCs are available for your use. You are not eligible to use the library’s networked computers within the PC Suites.


Assistance

Please ask library staff for guidance in the use of library resources. Enquiry Desk staff can be found close to the library entrance and other staff are always present on the different library floors.


Please note: The Library reserves the right to retract its services at any time or to refuse access to its property and resources to any individual who contravenes the Library and Learning Spaces Policy.
