How to apply

If you are interested in joining Salford Law School as a PhD research student there are two ways to apply:

Submit a personal proposal: Students are invited to submit their own research proposal and our academics can offer support and advice with this process. Completed proposals should then be included in your application (which are submitted via our online research application system.)

The quality of the teaching staff and the level of support available is exceptional. What amazes me is the encouragement of not only the academic staff but also the support staff in the Law School - Chrissy Patman, PhD Student

Choose a topic suggested by one of our academics: research applicants can also choose from a range of topics suggested by our research-active academics. The topic can be fine-tuned in discussion with the academic who will normally then act as your supervisor.

If you would like to study one of these suggested topics for a PhD, please make an application using the online system.

Where this system asks you to upload a proposal, please upload a document that contains the proposal you have agreed with the supervisor; if no proposal is necessary, please submit a document containing the following text: "I wish to study the following suggested topic: topic name, supervisor name" and then submit your application in the standard way.

You will also be required to submit supporting documents, in electronic format. Such documents may include: certificates, transcripts, and English language tests.

Please contact us for any additional information about applying.
