Biography

After completing his PhD on the regulation of sports violence, Mark moved to MMU in 1997 to establish the UK’s first LLM in Sports Law and went on to become the Law School’s Director of Postgraduate Graduate Studies in 2000

He joined Salford Law School from MMU in 2006 as one of the School’s original members of staff and its first Associate Head (Research). During his time at Salford, he has established the Salford Centre of Legal Research and was promoted to Reader in 2007. Mark is one of the UK’s leading sports lawyers and has advised many organizations on sports law issues, including the Football Spectators Federation, Supporters Direct, Greater Manchester Police and the Dutch Minister for Safety and Justice.
