Academic staff placements now available

Thursday 15 March 2012

The Partnership Office has an allocation of funding to once again support academic staff placement activity.

For several years the University has used HEIF funding to support the short-term placement of academic staff in companies/organisations to enable the development of new products and services. This has proved to be an extremely successful initiative at a number of levels; benefits through developing good relationships between the academics and the companies – resulting in further placements, projects and consultancy; proved to be a catalyst in the development of Knowledge Transfer activities particularly through Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) projects.

Placements can be for up to a maximum of 10 days, costed at £200 per day, paid into a discretionary account (Subject to approval by applicant’s line manager).

Staff Placements will be primarily focusing on Small to Medium sized Enterprises although applications for placements with large organisations are welcome. Placements with public sector organisations will be ineligible.

Calls for applications will be once a month. Applications need to be submitted to the Partnerships Office by 12noon on the 1st Monday of that month for them to be considered in the current call. After the deadline, applications will not be considered until the next call.
