Functional email account request form

A functional email address is an email address that relates to a role or group, rather than an individual named member of staff.

What should the email address look like?

A functional email address is set up as a separate account and has the following format:

<dept>-<function>@salford.ac.uk e.g. ITS-ServiceDesk@salford.ac.uk

Accounts may not be set if they do not follow ITS functional email formats. Please refer to the related information links for Functional email request format and the University's acceptable use policy [pdf].

How will I access its mailbox?

To access the mailbox a user has the option of:

  • adding an additional mailbox within Outlook
  • using Outlook Web Mail
