Biography

After a number of years in self-employment, Vanessa joined the University of Salford in March 2012 as Senior Tutor in German within the School of Languages.

After obtaining qualifications in Economic Translation for German and English with the Berlin Chamber of Commerce and Industry in 2000, she moved to the UK in 2001 to undertake the BA (Hons) Modern Languages, Translation & Interpreting Studies (English, German, Spanish) at the University of Salford. After graduating from the MA in Interpreting and Translating (English, German, Spanish) in 2006 at the same institution, she obtained Diplomas in Public Service Interpreting in Health and Law with the Chartered Institute of Linguists in 2007 and 2009 while embarking on a freelance career.

Vanessa has since worked as a freelance Conference Interpreter, Public Service Interpreter, Translator and Interpreter Trainer.

In addition to this she lectured on the MA Interpreting and Translation at the University of Central Lancashire from 2009, specialising in Conference Interpreting, Note Taking and Translation, until joining the University of Salford in 2012.
