Stephen Cotogni
I am a criminal defence solicitor in private practice. Prior to going into private practice I worked as a trainee court clerk in the magistrates courts.
I have been instructed to represent clients in the full range of criminal offences, from minor to very serious cases. As an accredited duty solicitor, I regularly attend police stations and represent clients in the criminal courts.
In 2000, I was admitted to the Legal Services Commission's (LSC) Serious Fraud Panel. In 2004, I was appointed a committee member of the LSC's Costs Appeals Committee.
In 2010, I joined the Criminal Justice Partners group at the University of Salford. Since 2006 I have made a number of presentations to criminology students, contextualising the role of the defence lawyer in the criminal justice system. I will be assisting in the delivery of a new course in 2012, which is entitled "The Criminal Justice Process."
