I joined Victim Support in 1991 as a Community Volunteer and stayed until 1997 visiting victims of all types of crime including families bereaved by road death and homicide

In 1997 I became the Manager of Victim Support in Bolton. One of the first major tasks I had to do was build on the phenomenal work previously done to establish Victim Support within the Criminal Justice System. It is now acknowledged by all our criminal justice partners that the support of victims and witnesses is essential if we are to achieve criminal justice.

In 2000 I became Deputy Chief Executive and shortly afterwards attained Chief Executive status. In 2007 Victim Support became a National Organisation and my role within this new structure is Divisional Manager of Greater Manchester.

I sit as a full member on the Criminal Justice Board and I am the Chair of the Victims & Witnesses subgroup from that board. The focus of that group is to ensure victims and witnesses are heard throughout the criminal justice system.
