SUCPS welcomes new Prison Advisor for the USA
We are honoured that Gary Hill has agreed to be our Prisons Advisor for the USA.
Gary Hill is the chief executive officer of CEGA Services in Lincoln, Nebraska and president of Contact Center, Inc., a private, nonprofit, international information and referral clearinghouse working in the areas of human services, criminal justice and illiteracy. He is on the Board and Training Chair of the International Corrections and Prisons Association, Scientific Coordinator of the International Scientific and Professional Advisory Council of the United Nations Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Program. He serves as an adjunct professor and consultant at the University of Nebraska in the United States, the Naif Arab University for Security Science in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and Torino University in Italy.Hill has provided in-country consultation to correctional systems of more than 30 nations and authored programs on use of force, treatment of foreign prisoners and staff training; helped formulate and chaired a human rights commission; authored numerous articles and training programs that have been translated and published in more than 80 nations. He has served as a corrections consultant and trainer in peacekeeping missions in Somalia, Afghanistan, Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republika Srupska.
For the United Nations Office of Peacekeeping Operations, he reviewed the corrections activities associated with United Nations Peacekeeping Operations in six nations. The nearly one-year project resulted in a Lessons Learned document and a Guidance Manual for use by UN personnel and consultants who may be asked to serve in Peacekeeping Operations in a corrections/prison advisory capacity.
