Salford University Centre for Prison Studies
Mothers and babies in Prison 2010
The Centre for Prison Studies launched an international single-focused 'Mothers and Babies in Prison' conference on the 28th Sept 2010 as part of the Centre's aim - to provide a forum in which academics and prison practitioners could meet and discuss their concerns, arguments, and highlight relevant research 'gaps' related to such a sensitive issue. We are happy to inform our Members that the interest in the conference was wide, and the registration was closed down far before the deadline, due to the high-profile of speakers and delegates coming from Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Russia, and the UK.
The topics and presentation titles discussed during the conference can be found in our Mother and Babies in Prison conference booklet.
You can also download the presentations given at the conference:
- Babies and Small Children Residing in Prison
- Children Imprisoned by Circumstance
- Children Need Dads Too
- Coping
- Injustice to Babies and Children
- Women and the Penal State
- Consolidating International Standard Rules for Mothers with Babies in Prisons
SUCPS would like to thank all the speakers, delegates, and those involved in making the conference so successful, and we are looking forward to receiving your comments/thoughts/suggestions about any future collaboration prospects when you join us on our forum.
