The Young People’s Friendly Neighbourhoods Project
Following the Summer 2011 public disorder across England, the University has been commissioned by the charity Groundwork UK to discover what works best in engaging marginalised young people.
The project, led by Dr Neal Hazel and Dr Andrew Clark, will learn the lessons from evaluating dozens of voluntary projects in disadvantaged communities around the country. Key questions for policy makers include:
- How can we best encourage young people from disadvantaged neighbourhoods to feel stakeholders in their community?
- What examples of good practice already exist around the country?
- What will help break down mistrust between marginalised youth and support services?
