About the Centre

Addressing relevant social issues through multidisciplinary research

CSR.Salford provides social research expertise, specialising in producing useful answers to social issues through robust multidisciplinary research. Our researchers share a commitment to innovative and excellent social research that will both develop our understanding of social problems, and make a positive social impact upon them.

Positive partnerships with collaborators, practitioners and sponsors

The Centre was established in January 2010, and draws on researchers from across the University of Salford, working together with top Associates and Sponsors from policy and practice.

In addition to research council grants for exploratory work, we undertake commissioned research and evaluation projects from EU, national and local government agencies. We also work with national and local charities and businesses to address policy concerns. You can read about our research sponsors here.

Academic progress and positive social impact

We share our expertise and knowledge through a broad range of reports, academic and professional journals, conferences and seminars. We try to disseminate targeted messages from our research widely to the research, policy and practice community. We want to ensure that our research will both develop the academic field of study and have a positive impact. Read about our publications.

Specialist expertise

The Centre is also home to two specialist units, each with an international reputation for addressing social problems directly through partnerships with practitioners and the wider community:
