Dr Oldrich Bures
Academic and Research Career
Dr Oldrich Bures holds an MA degree in International Peace Studies from the University of Notre Dame in the United States and a PhD in Political Science from Palacky University in the Czech Republic. He has experience in working with NGOs and has been a visiting lecturer at the Charles University, Prague, and Masaryk University, Brno.
Dr Bures is a member of the academic advisory board of the Journal of Global Change and Governance and on the editorial board of Defense and Strategy. He is currently head of the Department of International Relations and European Studies, Metropolitan University Prague, where is also head of the Centre for Security Studies.
He was elected a CES Research Fellow in May 2010.
Research Interests
His research interests and publications are focussed on European Union counter-terrorism, post-conflict reconstruction and United Nations’ peacekeeping operations.
