Biography
After her undergraduate degree in Spanish, English and Psychology, Sue trained as a Further Education teacher and subsequently specialized in the teaching of English as a Foreign Language. She completed an M.Ed TESOL at the University of Manchester whilst working at Manchester College of Arts and Technology. During her time at MANCAT, she also became involved in TESOL teacher training, ELT consultancy and materials writing. She joined the University of Salford in 1998, originally as Director of EFL in the International Institute. She led the successful bid for British Council accreditation for the university’s ELT provision in 2000. Sue was chair of BASELT for a number of years and went on to become Co-Chair of English UK . Sue’s current role at Salford focuses largely on undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and dissertation supervision. She was recently involved in the highly successful government funded MYLO project for the production of multi-media modern foreign language resources aimed at Key Stage 3 pupils, for which she authored the ‘Learning to Learn’ materials.
