Biography
I am a native speaker of French and I have studied Arabic and English at the University of Lyon, France. I then qualified as a translator (from Arabic and English into French) at the École supérieure d’Interprètes et de Traducteurs (ESIT), Sorbonne nouvelle,
My main research interests are in the history of translation, with particular focus on the transmission of scientific knowledge, and on the issue of ideology in translation. My research on the translation of nineteenth-century scientific texts was supported by a research grant from the
I am on the editorial board of The Translator: Studies in Intercultural Communication, and a member of the advisory board of Forum, International Journal of Interpretation and Translation and Across Languages and Cultures.
At Salford I lead the Centre for Translation and Interpreting in the
